Upgrading from ResSched 9 to 10

Upgrading from ResSched 9 to 10 or back is a simple process.  After installing ResSched 10, you must convert your existing ResSched 9 data, then adjust your Organization Settings to take advantage of the many new features.

Free For Current 9.9 Licensees

ResSched 10 is available to all ResSched licensees with current coverage for technical support and program updates. To confirm your coverage status, open ResSched 9.9 and look under Help>About ResSched. If your coverage has expired, or will expire soon contact us to renew.

ResSched 10 can be used at the same time as ResSched 9, so you have a complete opportunity for testing with your own data before changing over to 10 for production. Data can be converted from 9 to 10 and back to 9 if desired, but there is no synchronization between the two versions in real time

Data Conversion

If you need to repeat a data conversion, always start with a fresh set of source data files.  If you have any problems or wish to convert from version 9.1 or earlier, contact us for support.

Going up to ResSched 10

You must convert your data before using ResSched 10.  If you are using ResSched 9.2 or later, after installing ResSched 10:

  1. Copy your existing ResSched data files (*.tps) into the DataConversion\Source sub-folder of your new ResSched folder on your server that was selected at installation  (default C:\ResSchedServer );
  2. Run DataCoversion.exe to convert your data.  Select your new data folder;
  3. Select your country and region for time zone calculations, then click Convert 9 to 10;
  4. A green check mark will appear when the conversion is complete. You converted .tps data files are located in the DataConversion\Results sub folder. Copy them into your new ResSched folder on your server.

Note: the 9 to 10 conversion process leaves a set of tps files in the Retained sub folder. These files are not used by ResSched 10 but will be used if you convert back from 10 to 9.

If you need to run DataConversion more than once, always start with a fresh set of source data files.   If you have any problems or wish to convert from version 9.1 or earlier, contact us for support.

Going back to ResSched 9

If you wish to go back to ResSched 9 for any reason:

  1. Copy the .tps files from you ResSched folder (default C:\ResSchedServer) into the DataConversion\Source sub folder.
  2. Run DataConversion.exe, select the data folder and your geographic time zone then click Convert 10 to 9
  3. A green check mark indicates the conversion is complete. Your converted data files are in the DataConversion\Results sub folder and should be copied into your old ResSched 9 data folder on your server (default location C:\ClarionDataServer)

Issues to Consider

TIme Zones

Your time related data will be converted to Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) based on the geographic time zone you select during data conversion.  Dates and times will be displayed based on the geographic time zone you select in Organization Settings

Existing ResSched Users

Your existing user IDs will be imported into ResSched.  Passwords will be converted to all upper case (ResSched 10 passwords are case sensitive). Current users will log on to ResSched and enter their user name and password as they do now.

User Rights

Users’ rights to book resources  or view schedules can come from several sources and new options have been added with ResSched 10. These authorization sources are tested in the order shown below. A lower authorization is only tested if the higher authorizations have failed.
